Lipstick Lover, The love hate relationship

I love lipstick as you can see above in my profile picture, note to self i need to take more pictures of myself and not my cookies lol . I have a love /hate relationship with it though, I don't wear it everyday but when i do wear it i end up taking it off sometime while I'm out. For some reason it makes me feel like i don't know what to do with my lips if that makes any sense . I have made it a goal to start keeping it on as long as possible lol . I have seen alot of articles from men's magazines about how men hate when women wear bright lipstick or lip gloss. I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend who likes it but i say who cares! If you feel better ,wear it! I have heard for people with fair skin like myself that an orange tinted red is the best but i don't agree i hate red/orange lipsticks this bright red is retrofuturist by lime crime and I love it. I also live by the rule that you have to pick dramatic lips or dramatic eyes, unlike most of the tacky makeup you seen in NJ . If your going to wear a bold lipstick wear a natural color eye, if your going to wear a bold eyeshadow look wear a neutral color lip. I did freelance makeup for about two years and learned alot during that time. I'm no celebrity makeup artist and these are all my opinions .

My other favorite brand is NARS and my two favorite colors in my bag at Barbarella which is a peach nude color i like to put NARS striptease gloss over it and my favorite bright pink is schiap. Schiap can be found on sephora.com I was told they didn't make it anymore but i think i was lied to since its online lol .

Weekend Adventures and a Celeb sighting!

I had a busy weekend this weekend Saturday i went to Peddlers Village in bucks county PA to check it out for some ideas since I'm entering their cupcake decorating contest next month. It would have been better if it was warmer out and everything was all in one place but the layout was kinda all over the place lol. I stopped at this awesome yarn store on the way home and picked out some fancy yarn for my friend Ashley's baby blanket I'm making her and met the funniest ladies inside lol.

Sunday my mom our family friend Donna and their 2 friends both named Anthony went to the American museum of natural history in NYC. We had such a fun day i felt like the tour guide and chaperon to all of them and they are twice my age lol. I was telling them all about the exhibits and they were asking questions the museum should have hired me lol. The craziest part was earlier in the week i was watching the Martha Stewart show and she was at the museum and earlier in the day i was talking about her. Then I'm walking through the gift shop and who do i see walk past me 5 inches away from me?? Martha Stewart! I was so shocked luckily i was able to keep my excitement inside and run over to them to confirm we all saw her lol . I didn't snap a picture of her she was alone with her granddaughter in the stroller and I didn't wanna bother her but i did take these pics at the museum.

Handbag Heaven.. Oh how i wish list

Something you may or may not know about me is I'm a purse gal. I do enjoy shoes as well but i would rather drop the money on a nice purse then shoes any day. I buy sale shoes and splurge on bags lol. There are alot of people who are against buying designer bags because they say you just want the label ect ect. But i am a very firm believer that a good quality purse is worth the price. I'm not saying you need to drop thousands but put some money into it, it pays off. Case and point my aunt buys bargain cheap bags from wherever she may find them, but she goes through them really fast if she would put the money into a good bag she wouldn't have to do that . Enough of my ranting lets look at some purse porn, this is what I like to call the oh how i wish list lol.

I love to write letters and i love getting mail , I have been on swap-bot for awhile and have made a few great pen pals on there and even a fantastic friend who i get to hang out with. I find writing letters so much more whimsical and fun then typing out an email . I would love to have more pen pals who are also bloggers, i read so many blogs and have great followers who i would love to get to know better then the comments we leave back and forth. So i decided to host a pen pal swap for bloggers!!

I really hope i can get some people to sign up for this it will be really fun.

Here's what will happen you have till Feb 2nd to sign up then i will assign partners by the 5th . You will then have a week to send out your letter . Chocolate peanut butter sandwich cookie recipe

Chocolate peanut butter sandwich cookies

So for Christmas i always make my boyfriend a few different types of cookies and after seeing this recipe in the taste of home magazine i knew this was a winner . I changed up the recipe a little the original calls for cream cheese in the filling and i used butter and it also had chopped peanut butter cups around the edges but i didn't use those either. Here is the recipe..

cake part:

1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter softened

4 0z of cream cheese

2 eggs

1 tablespoon of good vanilla extract

1 package of chocolate cake mix

1/4 cup of all purpose flour

filling:

3/4 cup of smooth peanut butter

4 oz of unsalted butter

2 1/2 cups of confection sugar

3 tbsp of milk

1 tbsp of vanilla

Preheat over to 375

in a large mixing bowl cream butter and cream cheese till fluffy

beat in eggs and vanilla

add in cake mix and flour in 3 parts and mix well

roll in 1 inch balls and place on a ungreased baking sheet 2 inches apart

bake for 6-8 min and then let cool for 1 min before placing onto a cooling rack

while cooling make the filling beat peanut butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy

add sugar one cup at a time then beat in milk and vanilla

spread the mixture onto one cookie and top with another and your all ready to enjoy!

A side note i always use unsalted butter for baking but in this recipe you can use regular butter if you like.

30 Before 30 Challenge

I have wanted to do this post for awhile now but when my computer crashed the last time I lost it so i had to start it over. I am 25 now and I'll be 26 in September so i only have 5 years to do these which feels like nothing but i would like to get as much done as possible. Also when i start completing them i will put a link at the top of my page so you can check my progress. If anyone else has done one of these or would like to leave me the link in the comments I'd love to check it out.

1.Move to Michigan - So i can finally be with my boyfriend this year I'm going to be saving up as much as i can to get this on track

2.Open up a bakery - This might take me longer then 5 years but you never know what could happen

3.Get married - I know i can't really plan this one but we talk about it alot and I really have found my other half so here's hoping lol

4.Get lots of pets - I have always had pets growing up so the fact that I can't have pets where i live really kills . It will be one of the first things i do when i move .

5.Visit Paris - This has always been my dream , I am obsessed with Paris and all things french .

6.Travel more- I love to travel and have a long list of places i want to visit so after i move and I'm all settled in with working I'm going to start planning for that

7.Write and publish a recipe book - I would love to have a book of recipes and tutorials of my cookies and cupcakes ,even if its not a best seller it would still make me happy to try

8.Get a new car - I don't have a car right now so this is needed before i move as well.

9.Drive across country in an RV - I want to rent an RV and just drive across country stopping at all the weird and fun little spots.

10 Learn to snowboard - I have tried a few times but I would really like to learn I think i can get the boyfriend to teach me.

11. Do a pinup photo shoot - I loveee pinup girls and this has always been something i wanted to do just for myself.

12.Watch the sunrise somewhere beautiful - I don't think I've ever watched a sunrise I may have been up for a sunrise but never took the time to watch

13.Learn to make perogies from scratch- Another thing to do with the boyfriend I'm not polish but his family eats them alot I'd like to learn to make them from scratch

14.Learn another language - Preferably French and before my trip to Paris.

15. Finish my horror movie script i started writing along time ago- I started a movie script when i was about 17 I don't want to get it made or anything I'd just like to finish lol.

16. Learn to sew- Yes i went to school for fashion design and can't sew to save my life lol I guess It's a good thing I switched professions

17.learn to play an instrument - I'd like to learn to play the guitar or maybe the bongos lol

18.Do something with a charity - From time to time I have donated cookies for charity events but when i get myself more settled I'd like to do more with a charity especially animals.

19.Go on vacation alone - Technically I have moved to a few places for school by myself without knowing anybody but I don't count that. I'd like to take a trip even just a weekend trip by myself.

20.Lose weight again and keep it off in a healthy way - I don't really talk about it much but its been an on going battle for me . I 'd really like to keep the weight off in a healthy way .

21. Grown my own fruits and spices to bake with - I have always wanted to have a garden but never had the space but I'd really love to grow my own ingredients for baking, I think it makes it more special that way.

22.Own a pair of loub0utins - I am a purse girl and have splurged in my lifetime on alot of nice bags but I would love to get just one pair of these .

23.Go skinny dipping - Just once lol

24. Get all the tattoos i want- I love tattoos and for awhile thought of being a tattoo artist but i have a shaky hand so that was out the door . I do have alot of ideas for tattoos I'd like to get when i can finally get the extra money to.

25.Attend a blogger meet up or something similar- I always see these amazing blogger meet ups and parties and have always wanted to go to one but i can never seem to find one close .

26.Get a custom made gun for me and Matt (can you say wedding gift lol) - I love weapons and guns I only have an old gun i Inherited from my grandfather ,but i would like to have a collection one day and a custom one for sure. Pearl handle! lol

27.Go to Dolly world - I'm not really sure why but i just have a strange urge to go just once lol.

28.Do something completely out of my comfort zone- I'm very set in my ways and If i think I'm not going to like something i normally won't try it so I would like to try something out of my comfort zone.

29.Make my own ice cream - It's just something I have always wanted to do lol.

30.Make new friends- This one is really important I have a handful of good friends but over the years i have weeded out the bad ones . I would really love to make new friends that are great friends. I do alot for the people i care about and often that's taken for granted .

Florida Trip Part Two

I should have done this post right after the first one but it kinda slipped my mind lol so this is a little belated. This is the second part of my first post . So over all it wasn't the greatest trip but It was free so i guess i can't complain to much lol Here are more of the things i saw aside from the zoo.

Above is one of the hotels in Marco island and a little bit of the beach, we stayed in Marco island but i preferred when we went to Naples that was much more lively.

Above is a shopping district in Naples it was on the higher end side it was really cute there ,and i went into the first free standing Sperrys store lol

These were the dolphins that we saw at least twice a day in the back of the house . They seemed to stay on the other side and i kept hoping they would come closer but this was the best picture i could get.

It just so happened the town cupcake shop was right around the corner , It was a little hard to find because it was behind the hotel over there but it was super cute. Of course i forgot to take pictures of the cupcakes. I picked the hottest day we were there to walk over there and they were melted by the time i got back home with them. The cupcakes were pretty good to.

That's it i had alot more pictures but going over them i didn't really like them that much.

I love books to start with and i really love coffee table books. Right now since i don't have my own house all my coffee table books are on my book shelf lol . I had the pleasure of reviewing this new item from Pom , I was already a fan of their juice it makes a tasty drink when mixed with champagne lol

I really liked these they were tasty and fresh and if you have ever ate a fresh pomegranate you know that's it really messy. This was quick and easy and also comes with a little spoon so you can eat it on the go. Overall i would recommend this to anyone who likes pomegranate and you can all try them to there is a $1 off coupon found here.

Sprinkles NYC

The first cupcake place I ever tried was sprinkles in California, since then they had always remained my favorite cupcake place. When i heard they opened up in NYC I was like finally lol , Monday my mom, her friend,and I headed over for a little trip we went to Laduree to get the new winter boxes they had and pick up some macarons and then over to sprinkles. I forgot to take a picture of the actual place but it was rather small inside. They did however have a decent selection. I got cinnamon sugar, vanilla/vanilla,vanilla/ chocolate,coconut,and a doggy cupcake for my mom's friends dog who i love lol.

So here is my opinion of the cupcakes, My favorite were the coconut and the cinnamon sugar. Although the coconut had an artificial taste to the icing i wasn't fond of and the cupcakes were almost non edible the next day they were really dry. Most cupcakes that i have tried have normally stayed moist for about 2 days. All in all I need to go back on a day when they have the peanut butter cup that was my favorite when i had first tried them. I'm not saying they were bad I'm just a little disappointed.

New Years Resolutions

I haven't made any New Years resolutions in awhile but i think it is time to do so and to also follow through. So here is what ill be working on this coming year of 2012.

1. Save more money, meaning try and budget more with my business and be able to put more money away which goes along with #2

2. Be able to move out to Michigan by next year or the following year this is depending on if i can find a steady job at a bakery or get more local clients.

3. Blog more and be more interactive on my blog, i really do love my blog and my readers and i would love to be able to offer you more like diy,more recipes,and also add some crafts in as well.

4. Lose weight now i know this is a common one but i need to lose a few more pounds this year and also make more time to work out .

Ever since i was a young girl sitting around drawing dresses and clothes I had always planned on designing my own wedding dress. It would be a black corset and big black and white striped skirt (something like out of sleepy hollow) with lots of pull ups and bows lol. Once i got older i did a 360 thinking a classic completely lace dress vintage chic and elegant. But there was always that dark side of me saying wouldn't a black lace dress be more fabulous!! lol

Then came Vera Wang!!! I have always loved her and then a few weeks back when i saw the 2012 black and nude wedding dress collection . The angels sang and I was like finally i could have both my loves together lol . Okay enough ranting check out these dresses there are more to find online but these were my favorite.

Rhubarb Pie Recipe

First off let me say i would save this recipe for spring lol apparently rhubarb is out of season. I had to call around to 6 speciality grocery stores to find some . My moms dear friend wanted to get rhubarb pie for his boyfriends birthday and the only bakery he could find that had it wanted $125 to ship seriously $125??? So i was on a mission to find a make this pie for him.

Rhubarb Pie Recipe

Premade pie crust with 2 sheets

5 cups of rhubarb chopped (cut ends off)

1 cup of sugar

2 tablespoons of corn starch

pinch of salt

1/2 tablespoon of orange zest

1/4 teaspoon of cardamon

1 egg

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Line pie pan with first sheet of dough use a fork to make holes in the bottom

In a large bowl mix rhubarb,sugar,salt,corn starch,orange zest,cardamon

Mix very well

add mixture to pie pan spread evenly

I used my mini leaf cutter to cut out some holes in the top

in a small bowl mix one hole egg to use as a egg wash

use your fork to make pretty edges and egg wash to seal the pie top

brush egg wash over the entire pie

Place pie on a baking sheet and place in the lowest rack on the oven

use tin foil on the edges of the pie to prevent from burning

Bake for 1 hour 30 mins

let sit and cool before serving

Thanksgiving at Mohunk Mountain House

I know I'm a few days late on this post but i wanted to share lol. Most holidays are spent with my mom ,there are really only a few relatives i have that i can stand and i try to avoid spending any holidays with my father lol. The past 2 years in a row me and my mom made reservations someplace then after sitting around all day waiting to go out we got lazy ,canceled and ordered pizza .

This year i wanted to do something different so after watching an episode of No Reservations on the travel channel and seeing this beautiful old hotel on top of a mountain i was sold!

I found out they did a dinner for thanksgiving so we made reservations. Its in Hudson county NY so it was about an hour and a half trek but it was well worth it . I really love this place it was so beautiful and you have to drive up a mountain to get there.

As for the food it was pretty good but i was super disappointed in their terrible desserts . I think this might become a tradition from now on ,check out the pics below and you can check out their website for some better shots .

Double Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

Double Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

These are any peanut butter lovers dream , I made these for my boyfriend who loves peanut butter and him and my mom loved them. I had to adapt the recipe because i couldn't find a big bag of Reese's pieces but if you can you can use those instead.

Recipe:

1 cup of packed brown sugar (dark)

1/2 cup of granulated sugar

1/2 cup of unsalted butter

1/2 cup of vegetable shortening

2 eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

3 1/2 to 4 cups of flour (make sure its not to wet but not to dry)

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp of salt

1 bag of peanut butter m&ms 8 oz

1/2 bag of peanut butter chips (in the baking isle)

Preheat the oven to 350

use parchment paper on cookie sheets

In the mixer combine both sugars,butter,shortening,eggs and vanilla

beat at medium speed till mixed

add flour ,salt,and baking soda on low speed till blended

Break out the wooden spoon and stir in by hand the m&ms and peanut butter chips

Drop dough by heaping teaspoons 2 inches apart

Bake 10-12 min till light golden brown color

Makes 4 1/2 dozen cookies

I made these for my friend and amazing cookie decorator Maryann the cookie artisan.

Florida Trip Part 1 Naples Zoo

So two weeks back i went to Florida for 2 weeks we stayed in Marco Island , of course it rained for half the time we were there so it was a pretty boring trip . One of the last days we were there it was nice out but not nice enough for the pool so we got to do the one thing i actually wanted to do which was go to the Naples zoo. Its not a really big zoo but they have alot of big cats which is my favorite part of the zoo so i enjoyed it . Here are some of the pics i took ..

This tiger saw me and came right up to the cage it was incredible being that close to one he was so beautiful ,but it was a little scary to lol

Look at that mouth he was yawning ,great time to snap a pic.

This alligator was a fatty he was huge! and didn't move much at all lol

This was another pair of lions and the were cuddling i thought that was so cute

I had to get a picture of this tree it was so fun

The patterns of the giraffes were so pretty in person i never realized that before

These two guys were my favorite the leopards i love the black one but he was sleeping the whole time.

Laduree Open In NYC!!!

Just 3 weeks before my birthday they opened up the first US Laduree shop and in New York City it was the perfect birthday gift. The day after my birthday i made plans with my best friend to head over and check it out I was so excited! We drove in so finding parking was insane and when we finally got there after walking 8 or so blocks i couldn't wait to go in. There was a little bit of a line but i was slightly disappointed it was so small inside. I had been to the one in London that was how it found Laduree to begin with theirs is huge and has places to sit . I was also disappointed that they didn't have all the fun stamps and stationary type stuff i saw online and was planning on buying lol. I bought a box of 35 Macarons since i wanted to share so everyone could try some it was quite pricey and i paid extra for the prettier box but it was soo worth the price their macarons are unlike any other in the world. I have tried a lots of places in the US although some were good none have yet to compare to these little pieces of heaven lol.

They come in such pretty colors but of course the 4 flavors i wanted (vanilla,coconut,salted caramel,and praline) were the boring colored ones oh well lol.

I'm hoping once they are their longer they will either open a bigger store or add more fun stuff that i wanted to buy but either way If you are even remotely close to the area you must go and try some of these ! ps sorry i forgot to snap pics inside i was so ingrossed in picking out flavors it slipped my mind lol.

Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe

Chocolate Chip Muffin Recipe

These are a great treat for the weekend and perfect for when last minute guests show up, feel free to add nuts or use white ,dark,or milk chocolate chips whichever you fancy.

2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
2/3 cup of whole milk
1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter
2 eggs
2 tsp of good vanilla extract
3 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and put your liners in a 12 muffin /cupcake pan
In a a bowl sift together flour,sugars,baking powder and and salt
In your mixing bowl mix milk,eggs,butter,and vanilla till combined
mix the dry ingredients in ,in two parts mix well then stir in chocolate chips
Bake for 15- 20 min

Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Who doesn't love the smell of cinnamon rolls filling your house! The first time i made these from scratch was in high school cooking class lol. These came out so good and the cream cheese icing is such a great topping as opposed to the regular sugar icing .

For the dough:
1/4-ounce package yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
4 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling:

1/2 cup of melted butter

3/4 to 1 cup of sugar

2tbsp of cinnamon

For the frosting:

1 stick of butter

8 oz package of cream cheese

3 cups of confection sugar

2 tbsp of vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a small bowl dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
In a large bowl stir milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg.
Add 2 cups of flour and mix well and then add yeast mix
stir in remaining flour until its not sticky anymore
Knead dough on floured surface for 5 to 10 minutes
put the dough in a greased bowl and cover and wait for it to rise about 2 hours

When dough rises punch down dough and roll out onto floured surface
roll into a 15 by 9-inch rectangle. Spread melted butter all over dough in another bowl mix sugar and cinnamon
together and coat over entire surface . Start at the longer end and roll up dough pinch together the sides
slice into 16 pieces
spray the bottom of the pan with non stick cooking spray
place cinnamon rolls together in a pan ,let rise until it has doubled in size
bake for 30 min until light golden brown

For the frosting mix cream cheese ,vanilla,and butter till light and fluffy add confection sugar one cup at a time if its to stiff add a tbsp of milk , frost when buns are still hot to melt on the frosting.

Serve and enjoy!

Candy Apples in A Hurrican

First off sorry i have been MIA for the past 2 weeks my laptop crashed and i had to send it in to be fixed it was the last thing i needed at the moment for money to spend i don't have lol

So if you were on the east coast this weekend you heard and felt the hurricane that came through i hope everyone is okay and don't have to much damage on their hands.

Well saturday afternoon was suppose to be okay and after having the most amazing candy apples the week before we decided to trek an hour and a half away to get some of course lol. The weather wasn't to bad going up there and we made it there okay. I love girl who worked there was so sweet and we met the owner who was also super nice gave us free truffles for driving all the way up there.

Its called The Candy Apple Shoppe and it is also next to their bed and breakfast The Apple Valley Inn . Its in Vernon NJ so if your ever in the area check it out, there is also a website to order their apples online . I also convinced my boyfriend to stay at the bed and breakfast with me soon lol.

Below are the pictures i took and of course i forgot to take a picture of the actual apples we got they were so good!

Craft Show... Fail

Last weekend was my first craft fair i was able to sell at, so me and my best friend rented a hotel room and drove down to long beach island the day before. The first day we got there was fun we ate at this good placed called Tiffany's and then had a girls night in the hotel room.

We woke up super early to get there and set up and of course hit a huge traffic jam we got there second to last to set up but it was okay because everyone said it was still slow. I was between two other girls close to my age that we chatted to throughout the day. Then we found out there was a huge craft fair going on across town and it was also 120 degrees out on this day. So after being there all day i sold only $36 worth of cookies and i had brought $400 worth of cookies. Thankfully i have some good friends who have been pawning off my left over cookies to anyone who will look their way so hopefully i can at least make enough to cover what i spent making these . Hopefully i can get into a farmers market or larger craft fair in the future and do well there.

I'm not sure what this place was we passed but it was so beautiful i had to take a picture while we were driving lol

Sorry i haven't blogged this week its been really crazy around here , i have been staying with my mom she had surgery so i have been taking care of her and my 97 year old grandma cooking cleaning and waiting on them lol and then working on cookies for the craft fair I'm selling my cookies at next week ill post on that soon.

Onto the shoes! Anthropologie one of my favorite stores came out with a new company/line called BHLDN . They sell beautiful wedding dresses ,decor,shoes,and accessories. But today we are talking about shoes. These are my picks of my favs they are a bit pricey but its your wedding day its time to splurge . Enjoy!

Coconut Blondies Recipe

Coconut Blondies

These are so amazing you won't be able to stop eating them they are very moist , i made these for my aunt last week i decided to add coconut since we both love it.

Recipe:

4 0z of unsalted butter

10 0z of white chocolate chips or chunks

1 cup of sweetened coconut flakes

2 eggs

1 cup of dark brown sugar

1 cup of self rising flour

Preheat to 375 f

line or grease 7 inch brownie or cake pan

melt 4 oz of the white chocolate and butter in a double boiler then set aside to cool

whisk eggs sugar and vanilla together ,then beat in cooled mixture

fold in flour ,coconut, and the remaining white chocolate mix well

Pour into pan and bake for 30 min , when done let cool in the pan before cutting them into brownies

These are quick and easy and super yummy , great for last minute guests or a party

Chocolate Pecan Coconut Bars Recipe

Chocolate Pecan Coconut Bar Recipe

For the crust:

3 cups of gram cracker crumbs

1 stick of butter

1/4 teaspoon of salt

Topping :

1 small bag of sweet coconut flakes

1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips you can use semi sweet,milk,dark or white chocolate i used milk

2 cups of chopped pecans (you can also use almonds)

14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk

Melt butter and stir into the salt and gram cracker mixture pour into a 9x13 inch pan lined with parchment paper, pat down into the pan

Mix coconut nuts and chocolate chips in another bowl and pour over the crust

Open can of condensed milk pour over the entire pan make sure to coat

Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 min till golden brown rotate pan halfway through

Let Cool and ENJOY!

These bars are so good and super easy to make

Snickerdoodles and Recipe

Whenever I don't have a recipe or don't have the time for any mess ups I always turn to Martha lol. For me Martha Stewart recipes are always great and fool proof. I have never made snickerdoodles before and after 3 years of me making all these detailed cookies for my boyfriend he tells me he loves snickerdoodles ahhh you mean i could have been making these instead lol

Here is the recipe from Martha here , I Adjusted it a little my version is as follows

3 cups of flour

2 tsp cream of tarter

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 stick of butter(unsalted)

1/2 cup of shortening

1 3/4 cup of sugar

1 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon

2 eggs

Preheat your over to 400 degrees Move the rack to the middle

Line your baking sheets for parchment paper or silpat

Sift flour ,baking soda,salt,and cream of tarter in a separate bowl

Cream butter shortening and 1 1/2 cup of sugar together ,add eggs one at a time

Add dry ingredients in 2 parts mix well.

In another bow mix the remaining sugar and cinnamon with a spoon mix well

Take your dough and roll into balls about 1 1/2 inches i used my cookie scooper i use the one found here its great its great for chocolate chip cookies to.

Place onto your parchment sheets and bake for 10 min or until they start to crack. Martha says to rotate them half way through but i didn't have the time to and they still came out great so i would just say it depends on how your oven cooks.

Happy Fathers Day

First off I'm just warning you this post is a little personal so if you don't care leave now lol. I want to wish a Happy Fathers Day to all the good dads out there the ones that sometimes may not get appreciated . If you have a good father or grandfather or husband make sure you let them know how great they are every now and then. I am saying this because i do not have one of those dads and sometimes we take for granted things because we don't know it any other way. Although technically my dad never ran out on us and i still talk to him sometimes he found out a few years when i was about 7 or so that it would be more fun to run around with women and hang out with his friends then it is to be a dad and be around. He is a pathological liar who only wants to be a dad when its convient . My mother however did a great job so i had at least one good parent , it broke her heart that i ended up with a crappy dad because she was one of the lucky ones who had an amazing father I'm just sad i didn't get to spend more time with him before he passed away. For years it would break my heart to see little girls and their fathers in movies and in real life always wishing i had that. I learned to try and just let it go and realize that will never happen for me but i have to admit it still hurts a little .

So I wanna say Happy Fathers Day to my mom lol and remind you if you have a good Dad go hug him and be thankful for him .

P.s I'm not writing this to make anyone feel bad for me I know there are worse fathers out there I just want you to appreciate the good one you may have .

The Little Zoo

Anyone that knows me knows i love the zoo , I'm like a little kid i get all excited when i see my favorite animals . Yesterday i went to the Vansaun park zoo 10 min from my house. Its really small but it was a nice day out so why not do something different other then running errands. I used to go there every sunday when i was little and go on the pony rides lol. Chocolate Brownie Cupcakes with Strawberry frosting Recipe

I'm letting you in on the best chocolate cupcake recipe ever if you like a light and fluffy cupcake this is not for you this is moist dense and decadent like a brownie.

Brownie Cupcake:

3/4 cup of all purpose flour

3/4 cup of unsweetened coco powder

1/2 tsp Baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 sticks of butter

1 cup of sugar

3 eggs

1 tablespoon of vanilla

1/2 cup of sour cream (i like to add a little more)

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees

sift together flour and coco powder

cream butter and sugar together , add eggs one at a time

add vanilla then add dry ingredients and sour cream mix well

Bake for 20 min

Strawberry frosting :

1/2 cup of strawberries preferably fresh

2 sticks of unsalted butter

1 tablespoon of vanilla

a pinch of salt

4 cups of powdered sugar

You can puree the strawberries or chop them and they tend to break up in the mixer cream butter add 2 cups of powdered sugar then strawberries and pinch of salt add vanilla and another 2 cups of powdered sugar (i would add one cup of sugar at a time unless you want a mess lol)

Frost cupcakes when cool and you can add a strawberry on top for decor

I'm really excited to write about this weeks feature shop Oh Lulu , I am absolutely in love with Sarah's shop! I am a lingerie fantastic and her shop has some of the most beautiful items I've ever seen and she was sweet enough to send me a pair of her ruffle bloomers. The picture below are the ones she sent aren't they fabulous?

These are so beautifully made and even more fantastic in person . Her shop features more of these beautiful bloomers ,bras,rompers,and garters perfect for wedding lingerie everything is so classy and elegant.I will definitely be buying from her shop on a regular basis. I did an interview with Sarah so here it is...

1. Tell us about yourself?

My name is Sarah, but my family often calls me Lulu (Sarah Lou, Lulu, Lou, or any variation thereof). I studied Fashion Design at George Brown in Toronto and have always been making my own clothes. What a lot of people don't know about me is that I am a huge geek! I play video games (when I get a chance), love documentaries, studied Latin, and spend a lot of my down time reading.

2. How did you get started making making your amazing panties and bras?

I am a very petite, very curvy girl and it has been impossible to find clothing that fit, let alone a proper bra. The first bra I ever tried to make was made entirely out of an old bra that I had ripped apart, and some cherry-printed cotton. It was a disaster, but I persevered and tried again... and again... and again! And finally I came up with a few things that worked.

3. What inspires your collection?

I am obsessed with history. Before studying fashion, I was working on a History Major. I spend a lot of my time watching documentaries or reading about history. I love the clothing and what it says about the specific period.

My biggest inspiration is how a woman feels when she wears my designs; romantic, feminine, dreamy, beautiful... I feel like a lot of the lingerie on the market is kind of trashy to be blunt. It doesn't accentuate real women's curves, it isn't romantic, it isn't feminine. I hope that my collection makes a woman feel beautiful in her own skin the way she is.

4. How would you describe your personal style?

Eclectic... bohemian... casual. I am currently obsessed with long skirts and maxi dresses, but can also be a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl.

5. What would you like to do in the future with your shop?

I'd love to delve into some more swimwear and accessories. I've got some racier ideas in my mind that may or may not come to fruition and may or may not include blindfolds.

6. If you had to have dinner with 3 people alive or dead who would it be and why?

Vivienne Westwood. She is my all time, hands down favourite designer. I love her eclectic personal style. I love that she is a strong woman in a tough industry. She is gorgeous, and talented, and completely herself, and I admire that.
Queen Victoria, which is appropriate as I am writing this on Victoria Day here in Canada. The Victorian period is one of the most fascinating times, there were so many changes, socially and industrially. She was strong, and more importantly, she loved pugs. She sometimes reminds me of me.
Marie Antoinette. My French is very rusty, but I would love to meet her. She may have been utterly deluded as to the goings on in France, but she is still my style icon, she was completely over-the-top.

Nantucket Love

I'm sitting here planning a post on Nantucket weddings and it hit me i never did a post on my trip to Nantucket last year so here it is lol.

Last spring during the off season i took my first ever trip to Nantucket . I decided to take the cheaper ferry over which was 2 hours long bad idea next time I'm shelling out the money for the faster one it gave me a headache lol. When i got there it was raining windy and cold this is what happens when you go on the off season being on the water makes it extra cold and windy lol.

Below is the Jared Coffin Inn and the inside.

Thankfully the second day was sunny but still cold and i went exploring. I have to say everyone was so nice everywhere i went i had conversations with the shop people and it was that genuine nice not the phony kind . It was so refreshing to meet such sweet people .

I wandered into Flowers on Chestnut

It was the prettiest flower shop Ive ever been in I should have bought myself some flowers lol . My Nantucket wedding post I will be doing is featuring their flowers.

The town is amazing cute shops cobblestone streets what more could you ask for . Aside from the cold weather it was nice to be there on the off season because the town was pretty dead which meant quiet i could just enjoy everything. I wandered into the tourist house place and talked to the sweetest old man working there who looked happy to see anyone I'm sure he was bored lol . I also may or may not have picked up Nantucket wedding books in there lol okay it was may . Nantucket is my second favorite place in the world my first being London . I am aching to go back again soon , I'm trying to convince Matt to take me or my best friend to come with me . If i had the money id love to get a house there and open up a cupcake shop that would be perfect there. I will stop rambling for now keep a lookout for the wedding post soon!

The perfect creepy old house

Ever since i was a little girl watching old munsters and addams family episodes on TV i have always wanted to live in one of those big old creepy houses. Yes i know I'm weird lol, I love the idea of a house with history as well . My dream is to find the perfect big old creepy house to live in one day when I'm married. Then fix up the place so its really pretty yet still maintains that creepy vibe. Ill do all the diy decor projects and Matt can do all the manly renovations (its nice to have a man who can do manly things lol).

Almond Shortbread Cookie Recipe

For mothers day i made these cookies for my mom its the recipe i first used when started making cookies but since it contains nuts i thought best to change recipes.

2 1/2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
3 (1/2 cup) almonds, finely ground you can substitute almond flour as well
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup granulated sugar

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees

Sift together dry ingredients set aside

Cream together butter and sugar

add dry ingredients in two separate sets

mix well

If dough is to soft stick in the fridge for 30 min roll out dough and cut out your selected shapes

Bake for 10-15 min depending on how your oven cooks till light brown

April 4th was my 3 year blog anniversary and this past thursday the 21st was my 3 year anniversary of me and my boyfriend matt as well. I have to say he has been the best thing to happen to me , he has taught me that its okay to be sweet and loving and trust someone with my feelings and thoughts . 1. Tell us about yourself:I am a stay at home mom and wife. We have 3 dogs that are just as much my kids as my children. I've been creating candles for a few years now and after a little convincing from my family I decided to sell them on Etsy. I love the creativeness behind making different scents and styles of candles.

2. What can we find in your etsy shop?:My Etsy shop shows votives, tealights and even a star stacked tealight that I created. I also make pillars, tarts, and floaters which will soon be showing in the store. I always accept requests! My newest creative item is the personalized set of tealights. Whatever message you'd like to say, I'll create it with the tealights. Please check it out, I'm very proud of them :)

3. How did you get started making candles?: I've always browsed the internet in my spare time to see what new things I can learn and I just decided one day that making a candle was something I wanted to try. it seemed very difficult and when I created my first candle I was very excited.

4.Do you have any other hobbies?:I love to read, play with my children and pets, and I love swimming (only in the warm weather though). If I have some time to myself I enjoy catching up watching General Hospital. I've been watching it forever.

5. What do you do for a day job?:Right now, my day job is taking care of my kids, the dogs, and the home and also making soy candles. That really fills my days and nights.
6. If you could have dinner with any 3 people living or dead who would it be and why?Honestly, if I could have dinner with any 3 people they would have to be my kids and my husband. We always enjoy spending time together.

Last weeknd i went up to pa to the outlets and did some series shopping lol coach was having a sale on almost everything plus they gave you a coupon for 25%off your entire order.

I got the purse i got because it had green in it one of my favorite colors and I'm normally not a fan of brown but i love this brown leather wallet and it was the last one. I got some new sunglasses to and i hit up the converse outlet and got some neon pink shoes and last but not least i picked up impassioned mac lipstick at the mall on the way home . I needed to do some non baking related shopping lol.
